TEANECK SOUTHERN LITTLE LEAGUE COVID-19 SAFETY GUIDELINES

  • Hand Sanitization –
    • Bathrooms will remain closed
    • Encourage everyone to bring their own hand sanitizers
    • TSLL will also have hand sanitizer available in all dugouts, by the batting cages, canteen door, container and other common areas
  • Facemask policy for players, coaches and fans
    • Coaches to wear masks always
    • Players wearing masks on the field is optional but mandatory in the dugout
    • Fans will be asked to wear masks in accordance to NJS and Town regulations
  • Social Distancing for players, coaches and fans
    • During practices can drop off their children but should not stay to socialize
    • During games families will be asked to limit the number of fans when possible, parents and fans will be spread out in the outfield. Bleachers will be for players not on the field and will be visibly marked with proper sitting arrangements 6 ft apart.  Markings along the outfield fences will be for parents and fans and will be in accordance with NJS and Town regulations – 6 ft apart 
  • Eliminating unnecessary contact
    • Handshakes, fist bumps, high fives, hugging etc. will be eliminated
    • Players will line up at least 6 ft apart and tip their hats after games, as sportsmanship alternative
  • Drinks and snacks
    • All players should bring their own hydrating beverage, clearly marked with their name and returned to their bag after each use
    • Canteen will not have beverages for sale
    • No gum or sunflower seeds will be allowed
  • Dugouts
    • Social distancing will be maintained by only have a coach and 2 players in the dugout
    • Bleachers will be clearly marked 6 ft apart for players not in the dugout and parents will be asked to limit the number of fans in the field. Parents will be asked for help maintain social distancing while children are on the bleachers
    • No bat bags or personal equipment in the dugouts
  • Player Equipment
    • Players need to have their own helmet, bat and glove, no sharing
    • Each team will be assigned at least 2 sets of catchers’ equipment and coaches will be encouraged to plan and utilize the same catcher for multiple innings. If funds allow, TSLL will try to assign 3 catchers’ equipment
  • Baseballs and Softballs Policy
    • Practice – Swap baseballs and softballs as often as possible and sanitize between practices
    • Batting cages – Players to wear batting gloves at all time to minimize handling of baseballs/softballs
    • During games – Each team will bring 6 new baseballs/softball per game. Balls will be changed every two innings.  Each team will use their own practice baseball/softball during warmups and follow the practice guideline
  • Field Maintenance
    • Before and after practices and games coaches are responsible for disinfecting equipment, benches and dugout as best they can
    • Keeping shared equipment (rakes, liners, string, batter’s box template, bases, etc.) clean by disinfecting after each use
  • Game procedures
    • Pregame meetings should be limited
      • Maintain social distancing
      • Facemasks required
    • Umpire placement will be 6 ft behind the pitcher as stated by LL COVID-19 rules
    • Scorekeeping should be done via Game Changer and home team would designate a score keeper
    • Our concession stand (The Canteen) will not operate and no one is allowed in the canteen to work the scoreboard or announce
    • Limiting spectators and maintaining social distancing
      • Bleachers will be designated for players not on the field and TSLL will ask the town to remove the picnic tables
    • Time between games will be increased to minimize the amount of people at the field
  • Cleaning and disinfecting will be the responsibility of coaches and designated parent(s)
    • Before and after practices and games
    • Commonly touched areas
  • Canteen and bathrooms to remain closed
  • New signage
    • In dugouts and by batting cages on new procedures
    • In common areas on best practices and procedures for fans
  • Practices – field and batting cage sign up
    • Move to be done online
    • When and how often can you sign up will be determined once permits are given
    • One team uses both cages to limit number of people at the field
    • Time between each team’s practice will be enhanced to minimize the number of people at the field
